Crosley Turntable In-Depth Review

The Crosley CR6233U-BK1 Turntable will quickly become its owners go-to music playing device, and what a lucky owner that would be.

Made in an incredibly stylish vintage design that would accent an office or lounge perfectly, this portable turntable with in-built stand has the ability to play both digital tunes via an auxiliary port as well as vinyl via it’s genuine rotating platter top.

A great blend of old and new technology has been put together by Crosley in this design, and at it’s rather lower than average price point, this turntable is a real steal!

Read on to find out why we like it so much, and to discover a few of the nitty gritty details that you’ll want to be aware of before making a decision as to whether to get this beauty or not.

About The Product

Your final decision will probably come down to what sort of room design you’re looking at putting a turntable in to, and if it’s a retro feel you’re going for, then this might be the best turntable for you!

Easy To Use

A large number of reviews claim that this Crosley turntable is very easy to setup, and even easier to use once the setup process is complete!

The legs have been specially measured out and cut so that the turntable will be on a level surface all the time, meaning you don’t have to search for a benchtop or counter to place your turntable.

Also, the in-built speaker system will save you a lot of hassle as there aren’t a large number of cables to drape around everywhere between your speaker and your turntable. The all-in-one design really is both stylishly flattering and very practical!

When you’re in the mood for digital music you can just plug your MP3 player into the back of the speakers via an auxiliary port, and then when you’re in the mood for vinyl’s you can choose either a 33-1/3 RPM or 45 RPM setting, both work equally well.

Incredibly Stylish

The outer layer of this turntable setup includes fabric which is a nice touch of class. The style has clearly been borrowed from the classic Dansette series style made popular in the mid-1960s.

Crosley CR6233A Review

As an iconic symbol of pop-culture, this turntable has been made with aesthetics foremost in mind. Even the legs have been carefully rounded to achieve a truly retro feel which we’re loving.

The famous Crosley brand is carefully embedded in cursive writing onto the inside of the cover, so that it will be on display whenever you are using your turntable. For some people this isn’t a biggie, but for those who are proud of owning a brand item this is a big plus.

Reasonably Priced

Price wise this turntable setup is a real steal. You are effectively getting a regular set of speakers (able to be used with an auxiliary cord), an amplifier, a turntable stand and the turntable itself. Considering all of that the approximately $150 price tag is very low.

The turntable has a cover which means you can close the setup when it’s not in use. This is very useful for keeping dust off of the vinyl and platter – which in turn increases the longevity of the turntable.

And perhaps longevity is another point we should mention – as this is a classic and well tested design created by an established and trust brand, the Crosley CR6233U-BK1 could be expected to last many years.

What We Don’t Like About Crosley CR6233U-BK1 Turntable

This turntable setup has the advantage of using analogue technology to produce better sound quality than regular digital formats, but it doesn’t really make the most of it.

Audio Quality

The speakers aren’t exactly world class, and having only one is limiting to the ambiance that can be created in a room by music.

Crosley CR6233A Review

Obviously people who are interested in this turntable are probably getting it for a combination of it’s aesthetics and it’s audio quality. We’d go so far as to give it a 10/10 for aesthetics, but it probably only gets a 7/10 for audio quality.

That being said it’s by no means bad, just not the best we’ve heard – but at this price point, what were you expecting?

To get a setup that includes a stand, a turntable, speakers and a cover that has high level “musical purists” standard quality you’d be looking in the over $600 category, and that’s quite a jump!

Buying Advice

As previously mentioned, this gorgeous turntable retails for around about the $150+ mark, which is an absolute bargain for thrifty buyers with an eye for style.

If you are thinking about purchasing the Crosley CR6233U0BK1 then you’re probably best off going with Amazon as your retailer of choice. With the whole online marketplace to compete with, Amazon is forced to keep its prices very low, which is great for us consumers.

Shipping may be a little slow if you’re not in the manufacturer’s country of origin, but we guarantee this turntable will be worth the wait.

For a simple all-in-one turntable setup, you’d be hard pressed to find any better than the Crosley CR6233U-BK1 Turntable. It’s combination of regular speakers, turntable speakers, turntable stand and turntable is truly market leading – and it manages to be stylish too!

Clearly the price point is a little lower than other turntables on the market, so it could be thought that this turntable is more leaned towards clever aesthetics and convenience than true music quality. As such, it’s probably only a good idea for casual users to purchase this one.

If you are on the look-out for a casual home or office use turntable, then it should be at the top of your list. We hope you’re just as impressed with it as we are, and we wish you all the best with your retro turntable purchase.
